Redshanks Anchorage: Is This Heaven?

Redshanks anchorage is about 1 mile dinghy ride to George Town, but a world away! We had 360 degree wind protection, no current or swell, and one of the best beaches we've been to. We loved it! We stayed here for a week catching up on chores and enjoying the peace. It actually gets quite tiring waiting for weather, planning for anchorages, and being 100% brand new to each area, so it's nice to stay put. If you go, there is 9 feet of water in the entrance to the anchorage. We anchored in 5 feet of water to leave space for deeper draft boats.

We really loved Redshanks; one of our favorite spots so far!

Check out our 3:20 video of Big Major's, Black Point, George Town and Redshanks, including footage of our bows out of the water on the sail to George Town. It was a very lively sail!

  1. Sometimes it's nice to just stay in one anchorage for a while and not worry about where you're going to move to next, weather etc. We'll have to check Red Shanks out when we get over that way.

  2. Maybe not heaven but definitely a haven! It looks alot like the painting by Phil Capen in my living room. Looks like Hasty has the art of taking it easy pretty much mastered :)

    1. I thought the same thing about the painting! Hastings is a pro at the retirement lifestyle.

  3. I love being anchored in five feet (as long as no big chunks of coral are scattered around). Hastings is so cute making a sand angel! :-) Looks like a beautiful place.

    1. We love shallow water anchorages... we can't do the math for deeper water!
