What Larks!
Cumberland Island, Georgia
Wild horses greeted us immediately - they are everywhere! |
Dungeness Ruins |
We went on a march to the beach. It was, quite possibly, miles of thinking the beach was just around the corner, but it never was. It was a wee bit hot and prayers for death were offered. |
Hastings was a solid "meh" on the horses. |

Cumberland Island looks like an amazing place to spend the day. I'm not that interested in touring historical buildings, but show me a set of ruins and I'm all in!

It's a pretty neat spot. Apparently, the Carnagie's had wild 1920s parties there, and must have thought they'd be young and rich forever.
DeleteCumberland Island was one of our favorite destinations along the ICW! Yep, I remember walking to the beach, thinking it was not too far... Except, we did it close to dusk on a chilly October day, many years ago, so our photos were not as pretty as yours. But, we were the only sailboat at anchor and didn't see any other visitors. We did see plenty of horses. Our dogs were pretty indifferent to them as well. Enjoy it on a cooler (part of the) day soon.
ReplyDeleteIf we take the ICW south at the end of the season, we'll defiantly be back. Hastings has mostly shown no interest in any wild animal: manatees, horses, dolphins, turtles - he did want to chase a peacock here in South Carolina though!
DeleteThis is now on my bucket list of places to visit. Looks amazing but think I will visit in cooler months. :) Amazing place!
ReplyDeleteThere is also a van tour that drives you around in the AC, and saves you from the death march :-)
